Eagles Land 3-Star DL in Class of 2025
The Georgia Southern Football program landed a commitment from 3-Star Defensive Lineman, Amari Wilson of Colquitt County on November 20, 2024. Wilson plays high school football for one of the most well-known programs in the state of Georgia, Colquitt County High School. He is 6’2” and weighs in at just over 230 pounds According to 247Sports, Wilson had offers from Appalachian State, Arkansas State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Florida A&M, Georgia State, Indiana, Iowa State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Liberty, NC State, Pitt, UAB, UCONN, and South Florida. This year, he has 62 total tackles including 7.5 sacks and 18 tackles for loss for the Colquitt County Packers. The Packers are still in the GHSA AAAAAA State Playoffs after beating Wheeler 48-20 last week. Wilson will lead them into the second round of the playoffs against Collins Hill on Friday.
Amari Wilson is a great athlete and plays an extremely fast, physical style of football. With his size and build, he will likely play an EDGE role for the Eagles. After watching some film on Hudl and MaxPreps, it is easy to see why he picked up so many FBS offers. He uses leverage well and has the speed to make plays in the open field and from the backside. Wilson is quick off the ball, but plays his assignment well and is often double teamed at the high school level to free up guys in the back end of the Colquitt County defense. In obvious passing downs, he has a plethora of moves to get past defenders and cause trouble for opposing quarterbacks. Once he gets into the Georgia Southern Strength and Conditioning program, his frame will allow him to fill out more and become a contributor very early on for the Eagles.
The EDGE position is one that the Eagles need to recruit well at and Arian Wilson is a big addition for them. We should see Wilson on the field for the Eagles very soon!
