The Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball team is dealing with a massive roster shake-up as players continue to enter the transfer portal. As of writing, ten players from the 2024-2025 squad have entered the portal.

Forward Adante’ Holiman led the Eagles and the Sun Belt Conference with 16.9 Points Per Game in 2024-2025. Once we he chooses a new home, he will be enrolling in his fourth school in four seasons. Guards Bradley Douglas and Eren Banks are a big blow to the Eagles offensively as they combined for 22 points per game combined. Banks was one of the better deep threats for Georgia Southern as he finished the season 52/131 3PT (39.7%).
As of now, the only players remaining within the program that have eligibility left are G Dwayne Williams, Jr., a mid-year enrollee from Baltimore, Maryland, and F Nakavieon White, who averaged 10.3 PPG, 3.5 RPG and 2.4 APG in his 2024-2025 campaign. The Eagles have two Class of 2025 signees who signed on November 13, 2024: F Sean Van Dorn and G Jayden Williams. According to 247Sports, G Amare Neal of the 2025 class is committed, but did not sign on early signing day. The regular signing period opens April 16, 2025 until May 21, 2025. Aside from those three players, it appears that the rest of the 2025-2026 roster will have to be made up of transfer portal additions.
It is going to be interesting to see how Head Coach Charlie Henry and his staff weather this storm, one that is more and more common in collegiate athletics, to build a competitive roster for 2025-2026. According to most reports there are now over 1,000 players in the Men’s Basketball Transfer Portal.
